Luebeck, February 2018: From now on food technology company KaTech is certified against the VLOG standard (=German Association Food without Genetic Engineering). The certification acknowledges the compliance to the requirements of the EC Genetic Engineering Act as well as all further applicable legal requirements with regards to Non-GM food and feedstuff.
Right from the beginning KaTech has been using exclusively Non-GM raw materials and is certified against the Non GM EU regulatory compliance standard since its first year of foundation.
“The VLOG certification is a very important milestone on our way to implementing corporate responsibility with regards to sustainability and active environmental protection”, says Katharina Hahn, KaTech’s main company shareholder and Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board. “As an innovative precursor within the food industry we are supporting our customers in creating market relevant products. The VLOG certification is another step taken by KaTech to help our customers fulfill todays’ requirements.”
According to VLOG, many representative surveys prove that the majority of the population (approximately 70 to 80 percent) refuses to consume genetically modified products. This is the reason why genetically modified food, that has to be labelled as such according to EU legislation, is very rarely found on German supermarket shelves.
